Our Story - The Jenkins Foundation

Mission

Our mission is to change the way you think about carbon monoxide.

The Daryl and Shirley Jenkins Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the prevention of deaths and injuries due to carbon monoxide poisoning, at home and when traveling, through education and advocacy. We believe preventing deaths and injuries involves both public awareness and consumer protection.

We support and advocate for:

  • Mainstreaming basic carbon monoxide education into existing educational formats for all ages, including K-12 schools, fire prevention awareness, and healthcare
  • Universally mandated carbon monoxide detection requirements for all buildings and the improvement of associated safety standards
  • Improved carbon monoxide incident reporting and data collection, and the open sharing of such data between agencies working to protect the public
