Our Mission

Our mission is to change the way you think about carbon monoxide.

The Daryl and Shirley Jenkins Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the prevention of deaths and injuries due to carbon monoxide poisoning, at home and when traveling, through education and advocacy. We believe preventing deaths and injuries involves both public awareness and consumer protection.

  • We advocate for the mainstreaming of basic carbon monoxide education into existing educational formats for all ages, including schools, fire prevention activities and messaging, and health classes.
  • We support and advocate for universally mandated carbon monoxide detection requirements for all buildings and the improvement of associated safety standards.
  • We advocate for improved carbon monoxide incident data reporting/collection systems and the open sharing of such data between agencies working to protect the public.
